Are you a carer?

Many people today have to care for family members who, through disabilities, dementia or old age, are no longer able to look after themselves and it can be a lonely task. If you are in this position, please come along to an informal meeting in the parish house, 1.30pm-2.30pm on Thursday 17th October, with light refreshments from 1.15pm. You may be surprised to find out about help that could be available and you will meet others with similar experiences. Hopefully we will be able campaign for more help for carers. Even if you don’t need help at the moments, your experience and support could be invaluable to others. Please sign the sheet in the porch if you can come.

Youth Pilgrimage to Lourdes

Once again, 450 young people from the Liverpool Archdiocese will be traveling to Lourdes next summer, 24th July—1st August, to work with the sick pilgrims from around the Archdiocese and to have a wonderful spiritual experience. If you wold like to be one of them, you need to download the application form on 5th November—places are filled very quickly.

Nugent Care Society

This weekend there is a collection for the Nugent Care Society, our diocesan society caring for those who are disadvantaged in our own area. Founded 130 years ago by  Fr James Nugent, the society is now one of the largest charities in the Northwest, providing a wide range of services to hundreds of vulnerable children and adults.

Thinking of becoming a Catholic?

If you, or anyone you know, might like to join the Catholic community, or to receive Sacraments you missed out on, you would be very welcome at our Journey in Faith group, which will begin again in the priests’ house at 7.00pm on Tuesday 8th October. Our meetings are relaxed and informal, just for an hour or so, and you will meet others who are at similar stages on their journey as well as some Catholics who will accompany you on your journey. Coming along to the first meeting doesn’t commit you to joining the group: you can just come and see what it’s like. Please contact the parish office if you would like to know more about this.
