Calling all readers

Proclaiming the Word at Mass is a vital ministry in our community and all our readers can grow in the skill and understanding they bring to it, but it’s a long time since any formation was offered to our readers. Our pastoral area has decided to provide a session of prayer, reflection, input and practical training for readers in each parish during February. We hope that all our readers and anyone who like to begin reading at Mass, will take this opportunity. The session here at ST Teresa’s is on Saturday 15th February, 10am – 12pm. If that is not convenient, please attend one of the sessions in the other parishes, which are at different times and dates given on the sign-up sheet at the back of church.

BAPTISM

The next Baptism Preparation Meeting is on Wednesday 5th February at 7pm in the Presbytery. Any changes to Baptism preparation meeting dates and times will be printed in the newsletter.

Baptism volunteers

We are looking for a few volunteers to help families who are preparing for the baptism of their children. If you enjoy chatting to people and are happy to talk about your faith, and if you can be free on the first Wednesday evening of each month, that’s all we need. This could be your opportunity to respond to the Lord calling you to follow him and help him draw people into the net of his kingdom. Please see Fr Chris or ring the office if you think this is for you. We will meet in the presbytery this coming Wednesday, 29th January, at 6.00pm to prepare for the session on Wednesday 5th February.

THANK YOU

A big thank you to all who sponsored Paul Johnston on his bike ride through Vietnam . £198 was raised from parishioners and added to the money already raised. This made a total £5,500 raised  by Paul for the British Heart Foundation. The team of eleven riders have raised in excess of £40 000! The BHF have said that the money raised will go to providing defibrillators and to fund research into the cause of heart disease. A Mass will be offered for all the sponsors intentions. Thank-you for all your support.

THANK YOU

Frank Russell would like to say a huge thank-you to everyone who very kindly brought in bottle tops for him to raise money for wheelchairs. Frank has asked that we let everyone know that he is no longer collecting tops. Please do not bring in any more tops for the moment, we will let you know if the appeal is started up again.

MARRIAGE PREPARATION COURSE

The course for all couples planning to marry in our church in 2014 will be on four Thursday evenings, 23rd and 30th January , 6th and 13th February beginning at 7.15pm in the Parish Centre.

DISCOVERING YOUR VOCATION IN LIFE

“Dear young friends, only Jesus knows what definite service he has in mind for you, be open to his voice resounding in the depths of your heart. Even now, his heart is speaking to your heart.” Benedict XVI, Hyde Park Vigil, 2010.

A discernment group for young men, aged 15-21, who are discerning a vocation to the Priesthood or religious life. Sunday 2nd February 2014 at St Charles Borromeo, Aigburth, Liverpool, 2pm. Make a small commitment of time to the Lord and join our monthly gathering; we pray together, share our experiences, listen to some teaching and benefit from meeting like-minded individuals. Please contact Fr. James Preston on 0151 727 2493 for more information.
