Warm Welcome

We give a very warm welcome to Fr Thomas Wilberforce who will be here at all Masses over the weekend to tell us about the Holy Ghost Fathers Mission appeal.

Their mission is the evangelisation of the “poor” (Lk 4:18). Therefore, they as Spiritans go especially: to peoples, groups and individuals who have not yet heard the message of the Gospel or who have scarcely heard it, to those whose needs are the greatest, and to the oppressed.

The Spiritan option for the poor involves a solidarity which brings us to share in the world of the marginalized. “When we opt for the poor, we opt not for poverty as such, but for people who are unjustly poor.”  Our Spiritan Rule of Life (14) asks of us to make ourselves  “the advocates, the supporters and defenders of the weak and the little ones against all who oppress them.”

Oblate Lourdes Pilgrimage (15th –22nd September 2014)

Fr Lorcan has managed to bring the cost for the Lourdes trip down to £679 per person sharing. Single room supplement is £175. There is a limited number of twenty places available. Booking will be taken on a first come, first served basis.

For more information please see the Lourdes poster displayed at the back of church. Booking forms are available from the office, your own travel insurance is essential as this is not included.

Please return the completed form and deposit  as soon as possible to Kirk Jacob at Denis Hurley House, Oblate Partners in Mission Office, 14 Quex Road, London NW6 4PL.

For more information please contact the Oblate Partners in Mission Office on 0207 624 7296.

Last chance to host a Lent group

We still need volunteers to host our Lent groups!!

Sr Teresa will be at each of the Masses this weekend, if you would like to host a group please give her your name and details as time is getting short, Lent is fast approaching us! (there should be a sign up sheet with each newsletter this weekend, if you need another then they can be found at the back of church.)

Sr Teresa needs names as soon as possible in order to finalise the list of those willing to host groups during the first five weeks of Lent, using Walking through Lent with Pope Francis to reflect on the Sunday Gospels and on themes from Pope Francis’s Exhortation, The Joy of the Gospel.

So, if you would be prepared to host a group at the same time (morning, afternoon or evening) in each of those five weeks (in your home, in the presbytery or elsewhere), please see Sr Teresa or contact the parish office. Hopefully next weekend we will be able to give everyone the chance to sign up to one of the groups, in response to Pope Francis’ call: ‘Every Christian is challenged, here and now, to be actively engaged in evangelization… So what are we waiting for?’
