Installation of Archbishop Malcolm

Bishop Malcolm McMahon will be installed as our new Archbishop at a special Mass in the Cathedral at 12.00noon on Thursday 1st May, the feast of St Joseph the Worker. Admission to the Mass will be by ticket only. Each parish has been allocated two tickets for
parishioners. If you would like to enter a draw to be one of the two representing St Teresa’s, please fill in a slip and put it in the box provided. A limited number of tickets will also be available, on a first come, first served basis, by writing to ‘Executive Administrator to the Dean, Metropolitan Cathedral, Mount Pleasant, Liverpool L3 5TQ’. No more than two tickets will be issued to any one applicant. Names will be drawn on Tuesday 22nd April.

Walking into Easter with Pope Francis

People have enjoyed our Lent groups so much that we have arranged a gathering to share that experience, to reflect together about how we might change and grow as a parish and to celebrate the joy of the Gospel. We will meet in the parish centre at 7.00pm on Thursday 8th May and the evening will include refreshments and entertainment by Dave and Helen Ashley. Everyone is welcome, whether you took part in the Lent groups or not. Please let your group leader, Sr Teresa or the parish office know if you will be coming, so that we can cater for the right number.

Once again St Teresa’s will be having the Quarant ’Ore or 40 hours devotion to the Blessed Sacrament!

The opening Mass will be on Saturday 24th May at 6.00pm with devotions throughout the night until 9.30am when we will have a break to allow for Sunday Masses and Baptisms. The Forty Hours will then resume after the 6.00pm Mass on Sunday 25th May, continuing though until the closing Mass at 8.00pm on Monday 26th May. More details about candles and the Booking of Hours next week.

Our Pastoral Area Working Group has been discussing for some time the effects of poverty on so many people in our local communities, and have now decided to do something about it, with the help of Church Action on Poverty and some of the other Christian churches in our area. We want to highlight the real struggles of people living in poverty locally and then act together to make a difference. We are looking for 3 or 4 volunteers to come to our opening meeting, 10.00am – 1.00pm on Saturday 10 May 2014 at Holy Name Church, Fazakerley. Please see Fr Chris or contact the parish office if you feel moved to join this project.
