Responsible Giving
Following Fr Chris’ homilies last weekend about the generosity of our support for the parish, this weekend John O’Brien, a member of our Finance Committee, will outline the weekly gap between income and expenditure in the parish accounts for 2016 and will invite each of us to think about how much we are contributing to the costs of maintaining our beautiful church and of funding the many activities that take place in our community.
Please take away the leaflet and give some thought, in the light of your personal circumstances, to how much you are giving and the way you are giving it. Next week we will all be invited to fill in a pledge card: this will help each of us to arrive at a responsible decision about our contribution, enable our parish to plan more effectively and at the same time update our parish records.
Reflection on the Care of the Sick and Dying
The morning for Eucharistic Ministers, Bereavement Teams and Funeral Ministers in our Pastoral Area, will now take place on Saturday 11th March, 10.00am-1.00pm, in the extended and refurbished Russell Room at St Philomena’s Church, Sparrow Hall Road, L9 6BU.
It will be led by Mgr Peter Fleetwood and Fr Steve Cooper from the Chaplaincy Team at Aintree University Hospital and will include information about how the Catholic community supports the sick and the dying and their families at home and in our local hospitals. The morning will end with the celebration of Mass and those who attend will receive a booklet of prayers and resources for use with the sick and the dying.
