The 54th World Day of Prayer for Vocations will be observed this Sunday, May 7th, also known as “Good Shepherd Sunday.” The purpose of this day is to publically fulfill the Lord’s instruction to, “Pray the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into his harvest”
(Mt 9:38; Lk 10:2). Please pray that young men and women hear and respond generously to the Lord’s call to the priesthood, diaconate, religious life, societies of apostolic life or secular institutes
Our Changing Church – Open Meeting and Survey
There have been many changes in our local church over the last 150 years. In our Pastoral Area we now have fewer priests and less than 2,000 people attending Mass in five churches and there are many people who don’t attend Mass but still want their children baptised and their loved ones buried as Catholics. Archbishop Malcolm is asking the priests, deacons and people of every pastoral area to reflect on these changes and to consider how we can best use the resources we have to carry out our mission of sharing the Good News in our current situation.
Our Pastoral Area meeting will be at St Philomena’s at 7.00pm on Tuesday 23rd May. In the meantime, please fill in one of the survey forms each time you come to a Sunday (or Saturday evening) Mass in one of our churches for the next two weeks, so that we can get an accurate picture of who is attending Mass, where and when, to help us plan the way forward.
